The increasing need for security in transportation, production, energy, and customs processes is driving the demand for security seals. So, how does a security seal work? Lima Seals, one of Türkiye's leading seal manufacturers, clearly explains this process in five steps.
1. It Starts with Choosing the Appropriate Seal
Every sector's risk level and transportation model differ. Therefore, the first step should be to select the appropriate seal type for the needs.
Bolt seals are preferred for containers and trucks,
Cable seals for meters and filling caps, and
Plastic seals for documents and bags.
Lima Seals offers solutions for every scenario with its wide product range.
2. Application and Locking
The security seal is placed at the application point and closed with a one-way locking system. After this process, the seal cannot be physically opened or removed and reattached.
"Each seal is single-use and, once closed, cannot be removed without leaving a trace."

3. Tracking by Serial Number
Each Lima seal contains a unique serial number or barcode. This allows the sealing process to be recorded.
Serial numbers are recorded on shipping documents, shipping slips, or the warehouse record system.
4. Monitoring and Control Process
The physical condition of the seal is checked throughout the transport or storage process. Breakage, cuts, or loosening are considered suspicious. Seal integrity determines whether the product or document has been opened.
5. Safe Opening and Documentation
At the destination, authorized personnel break the seal open with a special seal cutter. The serial number is checked and removed from the system. This step marks the final link in the security chain and completes the recording process.
